- edited March 2014The NRaas suite of mods such as Master Controller, while not an all-in-one solution, more a pick and max, do come with sterling post-download support from those that not only have taken on the task of continuing Twallan's mods, but continued the ethos which went with them of helping fellow Simmers, not belittling them.
You need to tweak Master Controller to get the best out of it, but once done it is invaluable. Also a little basic system clearing out never hurts (especially the DCBackup folder apart from CCMerged, plus ScriptCache, CompositeCache, SimCompositorCache and CASPartCache)0 - edited March 2014Like Jazz-Hands-OK touched on, the support is what I think makes the big difference between NRaas mods and Awesome.
I will say that don't actually have to *choose* between Master Controller and Awesome, because you can have both, and they do different things. I've never used Awesome, but even so, I never recommend it just because I've seen enough on their forum to know that people who have problems with the mod are more likely to get publicly ridiculed than they are to get actual support. Twallan, and now the people handling the NRaas suite after him, are all helpful, positive, and responsive. NRaas mods also tend to be much more customizable, which means you can play exactly the way you want.
(P.S. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your story progression question.) - edited March 2014I use the NRaas Mods and have only 57 package files from that collection installed and I'm having no trouble with lag and my game is working fine.I'm also at the 167 patch and have found my CC seems to be fine which is helpful. The NRaas Mods are the safest and easiest to install and use though you have to do a lot of tuning to get story progression to only do what you want it doing.0

Thanks for your opinion. Yes I know how to manage the game environment. I delete those cache files before I start my game and I know they will be re-created when I run the launcher. But sometimes, I get annoyed with getting script error files. Should I have to quit the game and clear them out and run again?
The reason I want to try this Awesome mod is because I heard some simmers prefer this than MC mod. That's it.:) I also love MC mod too. - edited March 2014I will say that don't actually have to *choose* between Master Controller and Awesome, because you can have both, and they do different things. Thanks a lot for your opinion. I heard Awesome mod is cord mod and also MC mod is the crd mod too. So if you have 2 different core mods that are made by different creators, they can cause the problems I heard like that. You mean the customer service of NRaas is much more helpful than Awesome one right? It's new to me. thanks for the great information! - edited March 2014I use the NRaas Mods and have only 57 package files from that collection installed and I'm having no trouble with lag and my game is working fine.I'm also at the 167 patch and have found my CC seems to be fine which is helpful. The NRaas Mods are the safest and easiest to install and use though you have to do a lot of tuning to get story progression to only do what you want it doing.
I think it depends on the random computers. I mean the lagging and freezing are not related with the computer specs. I got freezing every 2 to 3 secs in Isla Paradiso with NRaas Story Progression. I don't think it's due to my computer spec. My computer spec is quite high with i7 cpu, quad core 64bit, flash storage 500GB,32GB rams, Geforce GTX 680 2GB. Also my Mods folder is only 54MBs, have 2 GBs of DCCache folder and almost of them are store items. CCs are only 100MBs and I use only Hairs. I get feeling unlucky whenever I hear that their games have no problems at all with 1GB of mods folder and 3GBs of DCCache size AND NRaas Story Progression as well on their lower specs of computer than MINE. Some simmers say they have all EPs installed on their game and their computer spec is only 4GBs Ram and i5 cpu but they have no lagging or freezing. Then I'm asking myself, 'What the problem with mine??????' I have only 10 to 15 package files in my Mods folder. - edited March 2014it maybe the town you are playing in to that as a lag and causing the game to freeze and run slower,
I only use a couple of nrass mods in my game master controller and the cheats, and only the basic story progression, so no one ever leaves my town unless they die of old age, there are loads you can add , but for sims to carry on there life's get jobs have kids you only need the basic story progression rest are added for more fun in your game , like the meanies , vampire slayer. just try the basic and turn off all story's and just keep the ones you want the mod to show you like birth's and death's or romances, which will make it run smoother, and check that the world you are playing in is not buggy to start with. - edited March 2014Thanks a lot for your opinion. MasterController is not a core mod.
There are only 2 core mods that Twallan made: ErrorTrap and Untranslated Key. And Error Trap apparently plays just fine with Awesomemod from what I've read. I have no personal experience.
If you are not one to search the web/their forum for the answer to your question and you come across in any way not intelligent on MATY (where Awesomemod is hosted), the other members there will tear into you for that over helping you with your problem. Twallan's site is much more forgiving towards having the same question asked a bunch of times. - edited March 2014hey Jeansoo

as other have pointed out awesome is hard core core mod and nraas is much more user friendly.
now for lag - if its just SP causing the lag i would suggest playing around with the settings -many have reported that reducing the population that has SP cures much of the lag from SP
but i do want to confirm you reviewed other possible lag issues - like it could be IP so there are options to fix that

and it could be your card - 680 is great but software issues like drivers and card settings can cause lag or simply getting the card recognized by the game
for possible card related issues i would post specs in tech.
HTH - edited March 2014I much prefer the nraas mods, I do notice a slight lag with SP myself, but since I probably wouldn't be able to play without them I don't mind so much0
- edited March 2014I use some of the nraas mods, but not awesome. When I first was trying to decide between the two, I thought awesome seemed a bit more complex. Maybe it isn't. I guess you could use both together, but you'd have to figure out which features are being duplicated, etc.
I use mods in my game, but I try to keep the number down. If you install loads of cc, then you end up managing the mods instead of playing. I just want streamlined gameplay.
The nraas mods I use are: master controller, cheats, overwatch, traveler, and written word. I tried story progression, and it had some great features, but decided I didn't want to micromanage my population that much. Some of these choices are just player styles. - edited March 2014I run both Error Trap and Awesome together with no issues. They are the only two core mods that can ever be used together.
I love Awesome for its bugfixes, but don't have many of its other options turned on, especially its Story Progression which I don't like. I use all of Twallan's mods for individual options that I can fully tweak to my liking.
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend Awesome if you're new to modding your game, or don't really know what you're doing, because you'll get absolutely no support at MATY ( and probably a mouthful of abuse instead )unless you can troubleshoot your own game first. Support is much better at NRAAS.
Also, there is no 1.63 or any previous versiona of Awesome, Pescado doesn't keep or support older versions of the mod.Sims 3 Household Exchange - Share your households!

And even if you did get your hands on a version for a previous mod it wouldn't work. He hard codes Awesomemod to crash the game at start up if the mod is too old. And by now all of the previous patch level versions would be too old. - edited March 2014Ive also play with nraas story progression for quite sometimes now, and yeah there is a bit of lag, but still pretty much playable. Just make sure you limit your population. As long as my population doesnt exceed 400 sims in town it still playable. Once it exceeding that, well I simply emigrate them my self via edit town, or move my family to a new town.
- edited March 2014I recently started using mods myself. I have MC (and the Cheats add-on), Overwatch and Relativity. I'll probably add more as time goes on but they'll likely be Nraas.

Thanks a lot!! Actually, I know the way of crinict's fixing but it was of no use. But I can download the fixed version of Isla Paradiso from MTS. It will be more helpful. Also I removed SP mod and lagging stopped in Isla paradiso but still had intermittent freezing. - edited March 2014

Yes I'm the same as you. I use only a couple of Shimrod's mods such as NoRomancevisibility hack-I hate the heart pop ups whenever my sim tries to meet a new one, lighting mod and NRaas MC mod only. I don't use any other NRaas mod except for MC mod. Also my Mods size is under 50 MBs, and DCCache size is nearly 2GB - Store items are 1.97Gbs and CC Sims3packs are only 50MBs. Almost of Store items are the Store Worlds. - edited March 2014I run both Error Trap and Awesome together with no issues. They are the only two core mods that can ever be used together.

Thank you. Yeah I couldn't find any 1.63 versions of Awesome mod and noticed the thread looks very old too. - edited March 2014I use awesome mod, and master controller, error trap and overwatch. All the mods I really ever need to make my game playable. To tell what awesome mod is patched to you need to read the Manual, not what the extra posts by Pescado say on that download page.
And yes, you will not receive support on those forums, because the answers are already available to you if you google enough and read the entire manual (which I highly recommend).
If you are interested in Nraas and Awesome Mod compatibility I'd check this out: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Awesome
If you are interested in Story Progression, all I can say is that awesome mod's story progression basically just fixes EA's story progression problems, but doesn't go around and create excessive soap opera like drama like Nraas Story Progression. Personally, I would play with Nraas story progression, but it lags my game too much, so I use awesome mod. Which has been working fine for the past few years, as long as you keep patched.
Oh and Awesome mod's story progression disables itself, if it sees Nraas's story progression installed, so that's pretty cool haha. - edited March 2014I use awesome mod, and master controller, error trap and overwatch. I got curious and checked my folders. They're about the same size as yours. My Mods folder is 68.5 MB. My DCCache is 1.79 GB. And my Downloads is 1.91 GB, most of which is store content.... Also my Mods size is under 50 MBs, and DCCache size is nearly 2GB - Store items are 1.97Gbs and CC Sims3packs are only 50MBs. Almost of Store items are the Store Worlds.
Not sure how that compares with the average player though. :?
ok i know which this thread is old and i'm a little later to post but instead of create a new thread i think was better write a new and to be honest(i also not was playing that much anyway) only now i could notice which my AM is not working i'm using the 1.69 game version and i get the missmatch error and i also noticed which things are not 'working' as they used to work before, i started to notice my sims being less active, specially when i go to visit someone house, normally i ending finding the npc sims just standing still and doing nothing, the same goes at night time when they where supposed to be sleeping, i remember when switching beteween familes i could see sims sleeping in they beds but now all i see is just 'sims standing' and doing nothing, this started to happen more on new games and after i did a clean in the caches these days, the error i had for a long time but never noticed that things but now they where very obvious, then any news about this??? or have a way to 'downgrade a patch??? like get back to 1.67 or a way to install the game and controll what patch level to be instaled?
